If you love water and would like to improve your skills, the YMCA offers a wide array of specialty programs:

NYC YMCA Maine Masters Program
The Masters Swimming program at the Northern York County Family YMCA is comprised of adult swimmers, ages 18 and older.  We are a practice site of the Maine Masters Swim Club and have regularly scheduled, coached swim times.  This program is great for those who want to compete in Masters Events, triathlons or just want to continue improving their physical fitness and swimming ability.  Therefore, this program has been organized to provide instruction to each participant based upon their individual goals. 
Tuesday, Thursday; 5:15-6pm
Saturday; 8-9am

(Tuesdays and Thursdays are lead by a coach; Saturdays are open times with pre-planned workouts)
Fee: Members: $10/month, Non-Members: $5/per visit
Optional Fee: Additional Maine Masters Swim Club Fee: $40/per year for those participants who want to compete in Masters’ events.  For more information or to register with Maine Masters go to: mainemasters.org

Lifeguard Training Program (ages 15+)
Professional CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lifeguard Training are certifications received upon successful completion of the course. Employment opportunities are available at the Northern York County Family YMCA to those who excel in this class! Prerequisites include: Minimum age of 15; Swim 300 yards continuously; Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Schedule:
Our Summer 2008 schedule consists of one opportunity to receive your certification.  Each class is approximately 36-hours in length.

Boy Scouts/Girls Scouts Aquatic Badges
Scouts earn your swimming badge at the YMCA.  Our Aquatic staff will teach you all you need to know.  For more information or schedule your group, please contact Bob Eagle at 283-0100, x40.
