Welcome!
Since 1987, the Northern York County Family YMCA has met the ever-changing social service, educational and recreational needs of residents from 11 communities in York County, Maine.
Programs offered serve more than 3,500 members each year and include after-school care and childcare, outdoor summer camps, community outreach, aquatics programs, sports, health and fitness, youth counseling and senior assistance.
The Northern York County Family YMCA’s 21,000 square-foot facility is located on a wooded 26 acre property on Alfred Street in Biddeford and includes the following amenities:
6-Lane Lap Pool & Diving Board
One of our branch’s most popular features is the 25-yard, 6-lane swimming pool complete with a professional 1-meter diving board. This pool hosts our youth and private swimming lessons, aquatic fitness classes, lifeguard training program and more. In addition, our pool is the home base for swim teams from Thornton Academy, Biddeford and Kennebunk High School, Middle School of the Kennebunks, a Maine Master’s Swim Club and our very own Manta Rays club team.

Therapeutic & Leisure Pool
At a comfortable 3 and a half feet deep and with a temperature near 90 degrees, our second pool is perfect for our younger swimmers, families and those with joint, back or muscle pain.

Cardio & Free Weight Rooms
Our cardio room is filled to the brim with Cybex circuit strength training machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes and stair climbing machines.
The Northern York County Family YMCA free weight room is a traditional weight room stocked with a full range of dumbbells, bars, benches, cable weight systems, medicine balls and more.

Fitness and Aerobics Room
All week long our certified instructors provide a dedicated venue for group exercise programs including Zumba, Pilates, yoga, cycling, step aerobics, creative movement and several “boot camp” style classes.

Lockers, Showers & Saunas
Large men’s and women’s locker rooms include saunas, showers, changing areas and locker space. Bring your own lock or borrow one from our front desk! Families have the option of using our two family changing rooms and an open shower installed right on the pool deck.

Playing Field, Climbing Tower & Ropes Course
The YMCA has a large grass surfaced field used for soccer, flag football and other sporting events, special programs and Camp Sokokis summer fun. Nestled within our 30-acre wooded campus you’ll also find a web of walking / jogging trails that include both a high a low ropes course to challenge participants and promote team building.
